Wilma June Smith

Wilma J. Smith (nee Warner)

Age 90 of Mokena, IL passed away at home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Wilma was born in Effingham, IL to the late Elmer and Ethel (nee Dye) Warner.

Beloved wife of the late Wayne A. Smith; loving mother of Donald (Carol) Smith, Jerry (late Kim) (Cindy Guendling) Smith, Larry (Cindy) Smith, and the late Sheila Smith; cherished grandmother of 7; proud great grandmother of 14; dear sister of her twin, Jane (late Robert) Ptacek, Imogene Anderson, and the late William Warner; loved aunt, cousin, and friend of many.

Wilma worked at the Joliet Ammunition Plant, and then worked at Kmart in New Lenox, IL for 25 years, retiring in 2002. Wilma enjoyed watching the birds in her yard and spending time with family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Wilma’s name to Lightways Hospice, Joliet, IL or the Martin J. Larson Foundation would be appreciated.

The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from 2:00 pm until time of Funeral Service at 6:00 pm. Interment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
