William F. Weber Jr.
Age 83, of New Lenox, IL passed away at home surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Chicago, IL to the late William and Bernice (nee Gabriz) Weber.
Beloved husband of Diane (nee Sartini) Weber for 42 years; loving father of Robert A. (Cindy) Weber, William F. (Jennifer) Weber III, Daniel E. (Kathy) Weber, the late Christian W. Weber, Joseph W. (Miki) Weber, and Jacob C. Weber; cherished grandfather of Jessie, Jenni (Fiancé Reese Artz), Jordan, Jamie, Seth, Gabe, Libby, Missy, Camryn, Ryan, Caden, and Jacqueline; dear brother of the late Robert A. Weber; beloved uncle, brother-in-law and friend of many.
Bill served in The U.S. Marine Corps during the Cuban Missile Crisis, was an MP (military police), and received various medals including expeditionary and national defense. He fired expert in both rifle and pistol and taught others safe weaponry in the Marines and throughout his life. Bill lived by “Once a Marine, Always a Marine” ideals and maintained close ties with his company commander and comrades.
Bill retired from his devoted work as an R.N. for developmentally disabled adults at State of Illinois facilities for over 20 years.
He took great joy in watching, refereeing or coaching sports for his sons and grandchildren. He was a lifelong swimmer, a skilled high school football tight-end, and played in softball and volleyball leagues.
Bill was an avid wargamer and created highly detailed scenery, structures, vehicles, weaponry, flags and troopers for use in complex strategic games. A daily gamer at heart, he was also a Settlers of Catan enthusiast, and enjoyed bridge, cribbage, dice and poker.
Bill will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 3 pm – 8pm. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church 1900 E. Lincoln Hwy, New Lenox, IL. In Interment with full military honors will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 11:00 am.
