William "Bill" H. Buhle

August 27, 1931 — February 12, 2026

We mourn the loss of Bill Buhle, who passed away peacefully at the age of 94. Born on August 27, 1931, Bill’s humor, quiet service, and steady presence were a blessing to his friends and family. Though he will be deeply missed, we rejoice that he is reunited with his Savior, past friends and family, and his beloved wife of 68 years, Marlene.

Bill was a man who could fix anything. At 19, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a sergeant in the 1st Marine Division—the “Mighty First.” He served in Korea as a tank mechanic and earned the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Ribbon. Bill completed his active duty in March 1952 and continued to serve as a reservist until April 1959. His years in the Marines shaped his lifelong commitment to hard work, humility, and service.

After returning home, Bill built a long and dedicated career as an electrician with Meade Electric, where he worked for 44 years. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for nearly 70 years.

Bill loved traveling to Northern Wisconsin and Arkansas for family fishing trips. His Mokena home is filled with his woodworking and furniture projects. He loved gathering family in the home he formed with Marlene and cooking a hearty breakfast with a strong pot of coffee to share around the table.

Bill was a man who used his hands to serve, fix, and care for his family, his friends, his community, and his country.

Preceded in death by his parents Henry and Martha Buhle, his siblings Ruth (Orville) Schulz and Russel (Janice) Buhle, and his wife, Marlene Buhle, Bill leaves behind his three sons William “Bill” (Arlene), Kevin (Michelle), and Robert “Bob” (Heidi). He also leaves his six granddaughters, three great-granddaughters, and with many other cherished family members and friends.

Interment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood IL. The family extends their gratitude to the caregivers at The Cottages for their compassionate care.
