Willa L. Bormet

Willa Bormet, age 85, of Mokena, Illinois, passed away on Sunday December 21, 2025, at Silver Cross Hospital.

Willa was born in Joliet, IL and grew up in Frankfort, IL. A 1958 graduate of Lincoln Way High School, she built a life rooted in deep faith, devotion to family, and a genuine love for others — a legacy that lives on in all of us. Willa had a natural ability to welcome all those who crossed her path with kindness, warmth, and open arms.

Her faith was lived out through her many years of service at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Mokena, IL. She served in many capacities including the Membership Committee, Turkey Dinner Fundraiser, Mother Daughter Banquet, Church Council, Music Committee, Choir, Funeral Dinner Committee and Youth Fellowship Leader. She also worked as the church Secretary for many years.

Willa was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to one great-grandson whom she adored and supported through every stage of their lives. Her family was her greatest joy. Willa’s love for her family extended to every part of their lives including attending and cheering on her grandchildren at sporting events. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs and watching college basketball.

Willa is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Marvin Bormet, children Linda (Brian) Rapson, David (Nicole) Bormet, grandchildren, Chris Rapson, Jake Rapson, Bobby (Haley) Rapson, Zach Bormet, Hannah Bormet, Ella Bormet, great grandson Levi Rapson, Sister, Milda Zuengler, nephews, Brad (Andrea) Baker, Joe (Michelle) Zuengler, Matt (Joelle) Zuengler, Ben Zuengler, niece, Brooke (Ryan) Jacobs, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Willa was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Bernice Schroeder, brother-in-law Richard Zuengler, sister-in-law Lenora Baker, and nephew Brent Baker.

Family and friends will be received at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 12PM until time of funeral service at 4PM. Interment will be private.
