Age 95, a lifelong resident of Lockport, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Lorraine Sodergren (Rudd); loving father of Kimberly (Jerry) Collins, Karen (Cecil) Underwood, and Kristyn Sodergren; cherished grandfather of Bridgett (Rodney) Mason, Aaron (Tami) Conway, Jon (Jessica) Underwood, and Stefanie (Michael) Eschbach and great-grandfather of Andrew, Logan, and Evan Minor, Montana and Anna Mason, Ella, Elias, Underwood, Sophia, Lyla Eschbach, and Lane and Seth Conway. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Agnes Sodergren (Sjöö). Vernon was a lifelong active member at Hope Covenant Church in Orland Park. He was a World War II Army Veteran and member of the Lockport VFW Post # 5788. Vernon enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing dartball, and model trains. The family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St., Lockport, IL 60441 on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 4-8 PM. Funeral service Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Entombment Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
