Susan Kay Clausing (née Graham), age 79, of Beecher, Illinois, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 29, 2025.
Susan was born on August 21, 1946, at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, Illinois, and grew up in Beecher, Illinois, a place she held dear throughout her life. She often fondly reminisced about her childhood in Beecher and the beloved Graham family pool where so many memories were made.
Susan was a strong-willed, funny, and deeply faithful woman whose life was grounded in her love for Jesus Christ. Her Lutheran Missouri Synod faith was central to who she was and guided how she lived, served, and loved others. In earlier years, Susan faithfully contributed to her church by making cassette copies of services for shut-ins, ensuring they could remain connected to worship and community.
She had a lifelong love of the water and was happiest on a boat—whether at Klinger Lake, Shafer Lake, Pine Lake, or whale watching in California for her 70th birthday. Susan was also a devoted Chicago White Sox fan, loved America, and deeply respected the military.
In her later years, Susan resided at The Pearl of Hinsdale, where she embraced life fully. She enjoyed participating in activities, attending physical therapy (where she proudly claimed to have invented “the swim move” still used today), engaging in daily conversations with friends, and playing bingo—one of her favorite pastimes.
Susan is lovingly survived by her children and their father Ron Clausing. Children: Shawn Schueman (children Jamie and Lindsey); Christy Schultz (husband Troy; children Ean, McKenzie [Mitchell], and Parker); Scott Clausing (wife Jamie; children Reese and Caden); Randall Clausing (wife Jennifer; children Cheyenne and Raegan); Ryan Clausing (wife Chrissy; daughter Jessica).
She is also survived by her brother, Chuck Graham.
Susan was preceded in death by her father Arthur Graham, her mother Charlene Graham, and her sister Nancy Fenske.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Susan’s name to Peace Lutheran Church, Beecher, IL would be appreciated.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 540 Oak Park Avenue, Beecher, Illinois. Burial will follow at the cemetery at Old St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1407 W. Church Road, Beecher, Illinois.
Susan’s family rejoices in the promise of eternal life, knowing she now rests in the loving arms of her Savior.
