Sue Carol (Pendley) McCarthy age 88. Beloved wife of the late James E. McCarthy. Loving mom of James D. McCarthy (Judy)and Christine E. (McCarthy) Cramer (Thomas). Cherished grandmother "Grammie" to Bradley T. Cramer (Sarah) and Kathryn "Katie" S. Cramer.

She is preceded in death by her mother Edith O. Jones, father Seymour Pendley and step father John Jones. Her beloved husband James E. McCarthy whom recently passed away three weeks prior.

Sue was an only child but had many loving cousins and was a loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews from her husband James McCarthy family.

Sue was born on December 21, 1937 in Central City, Kentucky. She passed away on October 15, 2026.

Sue was born in Kentucky but grew up in Chicago. After high school, Sue worked in the office of a retail store. Sue met the love of her life in that office and it all started with a pencil. As some know, Jim liked Sue so much that he would go to the office every day and asked if he could borrow a pencil. As they started talking more, Jim found out that Sue didn't know how to drive. So he said he would teach her how to drive. Sue's mom was worried about their six year difference in age but guess what... Sue's mom loved him like he was her own son. This was a beautiful love story that lasted over 68 years. Jim and Sue loved each other and were best friends.

Some of Sue's hobbies included antiquing, vacations and her love for flowers. She had the most beautiful flowers and gardens. Sue entered many of her flowers in local flower shows and walked away with many ribbons and prizes throughout the years.

Sue was a very strong Christian, it was the core of her values she lived by. Sue was very active in her church and was on many committees including organizing many themed dinners like mom/daughter dinners.

Sue was a quiet, kind, sweet soul. We always joked that she was small but mighty. We just knew we better do the right thing without anything needing to be said by her. She was the most wonderful wife to James, the best mom to Jim and Christine and the sweetest Grammie to Brad and Katie.

Because of her love for God and her strong Faith, we know we will see her and Dad again some day and that gives us peace.
