Sandra A. Arthurs (nee Malek)

Age 64 of New Lenox passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital, Palos Heights, IL after a brief, and courageous, battle with cancer.

Sandy was born in Chicago, IL to the late Frank and the late Irene (nee Meduga) Malek. Beloved wife of Robert “Bob” Arthurs; loving mother of Steven (fiancée Desiree Evans) Arthurs; dear sister of the late Karen Ellers, the late Glenn (Susan) Malek, Richard (Janice) Malek, the late Nancy (James) Shostok, and James Malek; loved aunt, cousin, and friend of many.

Sandy was the beloved Administrative Assistant in The Athletic Department at Providence Catholic High School, New Lenox, IL retiring in 2024. She was loved by coaches, students, teachers, and administrators. She was extremely proud of the coaches and the student athletes and their accomplishments. Even after retirement Sandy and her husband Bob returned to the school to run the concession stand at the home basketball games. Sandy loved to travel with her husband Bob and their family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 2 pm – 6pm. Everyone will meet at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Monday, August 4, 2025, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am.
