Ruth C. Hanna

September 5, 1925 — May 29, 2023

Ruth C. Hanna, a beloved grandmother and successful business leader in her community, passed away peacefully from natural causes on Monday, May 29, 2023 at the age of 97 at Story Point Romeoville. Her departure has left an immense void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ruth's warm presence and unwavering dedication to her family, career, and community have forever left a lasting mark on those whose lives she touched.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Cheri (Late James) Weston; grandchildren, Daniel (Colleen) Weston, and Tani (Brian) Koos; great-grandchildren, Delayne and Hayley Weston, and Austen and Deklan Koos; and her brother Walter (Late Virginia) Christie. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Hanna.

After spending almost a decade working at Argonne National Laboratory, Ruth became a top-notch real estate broker, winning countless awards. She kicked off this new stage of her life at Baird & Warner. Ruth later moved to RE/MAX and never looked back for the next 35 years. During this time she climbed the ranks of several board positions. As the first real estate broker who was not a RE/MAX manager or owner, Ruth served as President of the Southwest Suburban Association of Realtors from 1991-1992.

Even with her passion for her work, Ruth cherished time with her family above all else. Whether it be family vacations or spending Christmas Eve together taking part in the traditions she built years prior, she would spend the time she had, even in-between house listings, with those she loved.

In her free time, Ruth never stopped seeking personal growth. She enrolled in various self-improvement and computer classes. She also undertook as many sewing, needlepoint, and crochet projects as she could get her hands on. On the rare occasion that Ruth had a free second, you would find her sipping a steaming hot cup of tea.

The memorial service will start at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Church of the Transfiguration, located at 12219 S 86th Ave, Palos Park, IL.
