Roger R. Brinker

Roger R. Brinker, age 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Roger was born on January 22, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Raymond and Mildred (nee Petru) Brinker.

Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret “Peg” Brinker, with whom he shared many loving years of marriage and family life.

He is survived by his children, Kevin (Mary Schueler) Brinker, Tami (Paul) Winkle, and Sherri Brinker; his grandchildren, Ryan (Erin) Winkle and Lauren Winkle; his brother, Alan (Rita) Brinker; sister-in-law, Marlene Walker; and his AFS foreign exchange student "son", Andrea Moscardini.

Roger proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. In October 2021, he was honored to participate in an Honor Flight Chicago trip, an experience he deeply cherished.

Roger found joy in life’s simple pleasures and lifelong passions. He had a love for roses and was an active member of the Sauk Trail Rose Society, where he enjoyed both the beauty of gardening and the friendships formed through the organization. An avid fisherman, Roger treasured countless fishing trips shared with family and friends throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Canada over the years. Roger also loved to travel and created many cherished memories on family vacations and adventures. He was especially fond of Disney and proudly enjoyed ten Disney Cruises with family over the years, experiences that brought him tremendous happiness and lasting memories. More than anything, Roger will be remembered for his devotion to family, his quiet strength, his sense of humor, and the many memories he created with those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

The Brinker family will receive family and friends for a visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to www.honorflightchicago.org
