67 of New Lenox passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 19, 2021. Dutch was born in Chicago to the late Henry and Lois (nee Van Polen) Schurman. Beloved husband of Paula (nee Latto) Schurman; loving father of Jacob (Shannon) Schurman, Abigail (Adam) Barr, and Nicholas Schurman; cherished grandfather of Lily, Everley, and Mila Barr and Violet Schurman; dear brother of Diane (Ronald) Schaap; loved uncle of three nieces and two nephews. Dutch spent 30 years in law enforcement. He started out as an officer at Triton College in River Grove and retired as a Lieutenant with the Will County Sheriff’s Office after 27 years of service. He was a member of The Untouchables Motorcycle Club. Dutch will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family would be appreciated. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, New Lenox on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 4pm – 8pm. Funeral Service Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private.
