Robert Burton Swallow, Jr., age 77, of Mokena formerly of Crestwood and Oak Lawn, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at home surrounded by family.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Cheryn Swallow (Bytnar); beloved sons Kevin (Mare) Swallow and Jeffrey (Nicole) Swallow; cherished grandchildren Luke Swallow, Lilyth Swallow, and Logan Swallow; dearest sisters Carol (George) Stull and Patsy (Bud) Villalobos; fond cousin “brother” Fred (Marilyn) Kanwischer; dear nieces and nephews Tori (Vinnie) Fiore, Katie (Daniel) Genchi, Brad (Michelle) Villalobos, Lauren (Eddie) Dixon, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Kathryn (Bath) Swallow, Sr.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam. He worked for General Motors, Electromotive Division. He was an avid Cubs fan and gardener, was previously awarded the beautification award in Crestwood for landscaping his home. He loved listening to music, especially 60s “oldies”, while he worked on jigsaw puzzles. He volunteered for the Crestwood Soccer and Little League, and was a groundskeeper for the Crestwood baseball fields. He lived to support his kids and grandkids through all of their various activities.
The Family will receive family and friends on Friday, September 23, 2022 at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Inurnment will take place privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Lung Association would be appreciated.
