Rita E. Cecich (nee Canavan)

Age 88, of New Lenox, passed away at home on Saturday, December 30, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Rita was born in Chicago, IL to the late Thomas and Madonna (nee Hills) Canavan. Beloved wife of the late Robert K. Cecich; loving mother of Diane (Dennis) Talentowski, Robert (Joan) Cecich, and Rita (Stephen) Sawyer; cherished grandmother of David Talentowski, Rachael (Dario) Mojarro, Mark Talentowski, Matthew Talentowski, Robert (Kelly) Cecich, Kathryn Lay, Jolene (late Jeff) Olsick, Nora Cecich, Kelly Sawyer, Hayley Sawyer, and Mallory Sawyer; proud great grandmother of Gloria, Emma, Maura, Quinn, Penelope, Levi, Wells, Hunter, and Griffin; loved aunt of numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was employed by Jewel for over 25 years, retiring in 2013. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Rita’s name to the Dementia Society of America would be appreciated. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 9am – 12pm then to St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox, IL for a Memorial Mass at 12:30pm. Interment will be private.
