Richard G. Reyling

Richard G. Reyling, born October 2, 1934, in Streator, Illinois, passed away on Friday March 20, 2026. Throughout his life, Richard exemplified dedication and craftsmanship, devoting 40 years of his career to the Ford Motor Company as a skilled tool and die maker. A graduate of Momence High School, he demonstrated a lifelong commitment to hard work and excellence.

Richard also served his country with honor, enlisting in the United States Army from 1955 to 1959. During his military service, he was stationed in El Paso, Texas, where he further developed the discipline and sense of duty that would characterize his life.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Richard found great joy in woodworking, gardening, and spending time outdoors. These passions not only reflected his creativity and patience but also his appreciation for the natural world and the satisfaction of crafting with his own hands. His unwavering faith in God was a cornerstone of his life. Despite physical challenges in later years, Richard’s steadfast commitment to attending Mass every Sunday was a testament to his spiritual devotion. It is a profound tribute to him that his final outing was to Mass, reflecting the deep and abiding importance of his faith.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Grace (Graham) Reyling; his parents, John and Rose (Kauffman) Reyling; his siblings, John (Jake) Reyling and Charles (Chuck) Reyling; his grandson Evan Silvis; and his great-grandson Sean McGrath.

Richard’s legacy endures through his surviving family, who held him in deep affection and respect. He is survived by his children Joe (Gina) Reyling, Jacob Reyling, Jacene (Curt) Silvis, Jann (Chris) Kolyvas, and Jenee (Timothy) Rinearson. He was a proud grandfather to Rose Reyling, Jolynn (Dallas) Capdeville, Michael Reyling, Matthew Reyling, Timothy (Amanda) Reyling, Rachel (late Brent) Rose, Andrea (Joe) Kunst, Valerie (Jered) Piepenbrink, Ryan (Katelyn) Silvis, Anna Silvis, Sophia (Tom) Jaskoweic, Emily Kolyvas, Margaret (Garrett) Werner, Peter Kolyvas, Catherine (Demitri) Weide, Grace Rinearson, Maclane Rinearson, Nora Rinearson, and Emma Rinearson. His great-grandchildren – Jack, Molly, Heather, Elenor, Benjamin, Robin, Patrick, Genevieve, James, Eloise, Adeline, Myra, Henry, Roman – along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard G. Reyling’s life was one marked by unwavering commitment to family, country, and craft. His contributions and the love he shared with those around him remain a beacon of his enduring spirit. He will be remembered by all who knew him.

Family will receive friends at St. Mary's Mokena Catholic Church 19515 115th ave. Mokena, IL. 60448 on Monday March 30, 2026, from 9AM until time of mass at 10AM. Interment will be private.
