Richard F. Stuenkel, age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2023 at St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields.
Richard is survived by his beloved children, Phyllis A. Stuenkel, Barbara Ann Stuenkel, and Duane R. Stuenkel; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie (nee Klier) Stuenkel; parents, Otto and Amanda (nee Kampe) Stuenkle; and his siblings, Roger Stuenkel, Arwin Stuenkel, Sylvia Schmaedeke, and Loretta Keuch.
Richard was born in the same house that he passed away in, having never moved away from his family home. He was a lifelong farmer, who worked his fields and tended his dairy farm livestock devotedly. He was a large collector of small tractors and farm toys but was especially fond of his Ford Tractors. He was a local historian of sorts, having much knowledge of many of his surrounding communities and even giving lectures on these topics. He was a proud board member of School District #159 where he had retired from. He was also a proud trustee of Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Richton Park. Richard will be missed by all that knew him.
Services for Richard will begin on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 with a visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, in Frankfort from 2pm until 7pm. Services will continue the following day with a visitation at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 177 Luther Lane, in Frankfort, from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am. Richard will be laid to rest with his wife at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Richton Park. Donations to the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Fund in Richards name would be appreciated.
