REV. GORDON H. REIF

Age 94, of Orland Park, formerly of Chicago Heights, passed away Saturday, June 14th, 2025 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

Pastor Gordon is survived by his loving family, children, Timothy (Dianne) Reif, Anne (Jeff Sherred) Rubley, Karen (Jack) Lester, Amy (Dean) Mackie, sibling, Stanley Reif, grandchildren, Kylie (Aaron) Parpart, Ryan (Amber) Reif, Tyler (Carrie Ann) Reif, Heather (Jon) Chiapetta, Jason (Laura) Rubley, Kurt (Carrie) Komers, Jonathan (Stacy) Komers, Jeffrey Hall, Matthew Hall and 12 great grandchildren.

Pastor Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Lester & Anna Reif (Johnson), wife, Peggy Reif (Wilkins) and sibling Shirley Spicer.

Pastor Gordon’s early years of ministry began at the Presbyterian Church in Mediapolis IA, United Presbyterian Church in Iron River MI, and First Presbyterian Church in Fairbury IL. He spent over 30 years as the Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Chicago Heights IL and then went on to St. Paul’s Community Church in Homewood, Peace Memorial Church in Palos Park and the Presbyterian Church in Orland Park.

Through multiple pastorates and community groups he touched countless lives and was loved by everyone who knew him. We will never hear that boisterous laugh again, shake hands with that strong grasp he was so proud of or watch him expertly play bridge (a game he rarely lost) but he will live on in our hearts. He was a sensitive man and a “people person” who never forgot a name. He thrived on spending time with others, preaching, leading discussions on current events, conducting bible studies, bowling or playing cards. He had a deep faith and never hesitated to share it with others. We love you; you were one of kind!

All services and interment are pending at this time.
