It is with great sadness that we honor Rebecca Anne Tyda (nee Kelsey) 68, as she passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026 in the wonderful care of Lightways Hospice. She was born on July 12, 1957 in Gary, IN. She resided in Plainfield, IL where she was able to be close to family and friends.
Becky was a graduate of Lincoln Way High School, New Lenox, IL, Class of '75, and later attended St. Joe's Medical School of Nursing Class of '84, graduatiing with high honors. Becky spent most of her time being a hero to all that encountered her. She was an ICU nurse of 43 years at St. Joe's Medical Center, working countless hours to provide the best care her patients deserved. She was known for her admirable work ethic, giving compassion, pristine care for her patients, and always making sure everyone was giving the same care she gave. She created many friendships at the hospital and was well respected by her peers. Becky shared many laughs, inside jokes, and became a mentor to many.
Giving was her love language. Even at the end she was a donor with Gift of Hope where she was honored with the Hope Walk. She continuously gave unconditional love and support to her family and friends. Becky loved animals. She had the joy of giving Baby, Boo, and her latest dog Bailey wonderful lives. She loved talking about all the quirky traits they had and how much they loved to snuggle. She was donor to ASPCA. She loved Brookfield Zoo, where she donated and loved to bring her granddaughter too. The Giraffes were her favorite. She loved Disney - it was her magical place. She enjoyed her trips to Dallas, where she was able to visit musuems as she was an avid history enthusist. Becky adored her grandchildren and loved to attend any of their sporting events to cheer them on. Becky loved music and enjoyed a good concert with her sister Raylene or bestie Alison. Peter Noone, Hermans Hermits, Carol King were just a few of her favorites. Being with family, dancing, enjoying a margarita, and laughing is are when you saw her shine. Many looked up to her and thought of her as "Your're My Hero"
Becky was an ever loving mother of Jayme (Mike) Radeke, Jakob (Nicole Green) Stasko, and Justin Tyda; proud Gma of Tristan and Taylin Radeke; dear sister of Rose (Mike) Shobutte, Roxanna Petrusich, Robert Jr. Kelsey (Darlene Swiatek) , and Raylene Kelsey, best friends with Alison Yenerich, and cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. Becky was preceded in death by her parents Robert Sr. and Gwendolyn Kelsey. As to her wishes no celebration of life will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ASPCA, the Chicago Zoological Society, Child Fund, Gift of Hope, and Lightways Hospice.
