Phyllis Marie Frye (1942-2025)

Phyllis Marie Frye, age 83, of Chicago, Illinois, died in her home on Thursday, November 20th, 2025. 

Phyllis was born to Maxine and Harry Engelsen in Chicago on March 18th, 1942. A tenacious and accomplished “jack of all trades, ” she built a life for herself and her five children in Country Club Hills, Il. , a suburb not far from Chicago. Phyllis lived in Illinois her entire life. From her work as a “trucker” for her own woodworking business, to positions in hospital administration, making car mirrors in a factory, owning & operating her own IBM keypunch business which she ran from her home, Phyllis was known for being able to “do anything.  ” Her strength and dedication to her family and friends were evident in her willingness to fix anyone’s cars and appliances, fight intensely for those she loved, and to continue to find the energy for life through to the end.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Maxine and Harry, her brothers Roger, Ronald, and Dale, and her children Raymond, Ronnie, Randy, David, and Dennis. She is survived by her daughters Angela and Natalie, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be missed dearly, loved forever and always kept in our hearts.

Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423 on Tuesday, November 25th, 2025 from 9:00 AM until time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM.  Interment, St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery, Chicago.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in Phyllis’ memory would be greatly appreciated
