Panagiotis "Pete" Poulakis
76, of Lockport formerly of Orland Park, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Pete was born in Karystos Evia, Greece to the late Dimitrios and Eirini (nee Kolobaris) Poulakis. Beloved husband of Cindy (nee Flinchum); loving father of Nicole "Nikki" (Marc) Fontanetta, Constantino "Dino" (Shannon), Dimitrios "Tim" (Vicky), Angelina "Angel" (Matt) Dryfhout; cherished Papou of Ellie, Mia, Aaron, Zoe, Evie, Constantino, Drew, and Faith; dear brother of Constantino (the late Eleni), Kyriakos "Charlie" (Dawn) Poulakis, Eleni (the late Kostas) Livadaris, and Aryero (Mixhali) Skiadopoulos. Pete was like a father to his nephew Dimitri Poulakis who lived with them and a dear uncle to many other nieces and nephews. Pete was an entrepreneur of many restaurants and the former owner of Mattina Café, New Lenox. He was a former employee of Amtrak and a retired Inspector for Cook County Sheriff's Department. He was a dedicated public servant as Collector for Orland Township. He proudly served as a Board Member to Marina City and was a member of Hellenic Masonic Lodge #1084. His best days were the days he spent enjoying life with his wife, children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials in Pete's name to Lurie Children's Hospital, Chicago. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox on Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 3-9pm and again on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 10:00am until time of Prayer Service at 11:00am. Interment private.
