Joseph Farley Fitzgerald
87, of New Lenox formerly of Beverly, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015. Beloved husband of Jean nee Freeburn; loving father of Laura (Rob) King, Linda (David) Tynan, and the late Thomas (Kathleen) Fitzgerald; cherished grandfather of Matthew, Marie, Daniel, Michael, Celia, Tom, and Billy. From 1946-47 Joe was a Paratrooper in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division, and was a licensed pilot. He graduated from Universtiy of Illinois in 1951, and was employed for 26 years at the Chicago Building Department. From 1969-80 he was the Chicago Building Commissioner, and in 1981 he was partner at Schal Associates until his retirement in 1985. Joe was a fellow in the American Institute of Architects. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd., New Lenox, IL 60451 on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 4-8 PM. Funeral service Thursday, September 3, 2015 with chapel prayers at 11:30 AM to St. Jude Catholic Church, 241 W. 2nd Ave., New Lenox, IL for a 12:00 Noon Mass of Christian Burial.
