Alan F. Filar, age 68, of Ottawa, IL formerly of Lemont, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016. Beloved husband of Maria nee Weiss; dear son of Helen and the late Frank Filar; loving father of Alan (Lauri) Filar, Eric (Melissa) Filar, and Sandra (Matthew) Fullam; cherished grandfather of Wyatt, Evie, Dustin, Sawyer, and Carly; fond brother of Debra (James) Jablonski. Alan was a Viet Nam Air Force Veteran. The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd., New Lenox, IL 60451 on Sunday, January 24th, 2016 from 2:00-5:00 PM with a celebration of life service beginning at 3:30 PM. The family will meet at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd., New Lenox, IL 60451 on Monday, January 25th, 2016 at 10:00 AM to proceed to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL for an 11:00 AM military committal service.
