Michael Marion Mecozzi, 69, of New Lenox, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022. Beloved husband of Susan (LaVette) Mecozzi; devoted father of Michael (Aimee) Mecozzi and Robert (Georgann) Mecozzi; proud grandfather of Lucia, Michael Antonio, Cecelia, and Alivia; dearest brother to Maureen (John Moline) and Joe (Leesa) Mecozzi; loving brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, and cousin to many. Mike was a graduate of Thornton Township High School, where he met his wife, Sue. He graduated from Eastern Illinois with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and a master’s degree in Educational Administration. Mike was passionate about education. He worked in District 206 as a teacher and wrestling and football coach, and in District 230 as a dean, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent. His desire was to create an educational environment where all people felt valued. After retirement, he created and presented Administrator Academies. A man of faith, courage, and service: Mike was the man you wanted to be. Mike’s love for the Lord and his desire to help others prompted his leadership in Bible Study Fellowship and his volunteer work at his church, PADS, and Habitat for Humanity. Mike loved his family with a strong and protective love. His strength and courage will always be remembered. - Visitation Sunday, November 27 from 2 to 7 pm at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 Francis Rd., New Lenox, IL, 60451. Funeral service 11 am Monday at Hickory Creek Church 10660 W. Lincoln Hwy, Frankfort, IL 60423.
