Michael Joseph Hooper
68, of New Lenox formerly of Chicago Ridge, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at University of Chicago Hospital, Chicago after a courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born in Chicago to Florence (nee Kristak) and the late Austin Hooper. Beloved husband of Carol (nee Kubic); loving father of Melissa (Mike) Smith, Katie (Cory) Rogers, and Jessica Hooper; cherished grandfather of Emma and Anna Smith; dear brother of Patricia (late Skip) Evans, the late Larry Hooper, Lori (Fred) Hoegler, Andy (Cathy) Hooper, and the late Holly Dudko; loved uncle of numerous nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends. Mike was an Auto Collision Technician for almost 50 years with a love for building custom homes on the side. Mike and Carol were married for 42 years and built an extraordinary life together full of love, laughter, a little bit of yard work, and most importantly a strong Catholic faith. As a dad, he was simply the best--he wanted the world for his girls and worked tirelessly to give it to them. As a brother and son, he was steadfast in his love and support. He enjoyed spending his free time with his family and those he loved the most and was always eager to learn something new. Mike could always be counted on to lend a hand or help anyone in need and was incredibly loyal to all those he loved and was friends with. His time with good friends was spent fishing, hunting, and doing really anything outdoors. He was also an active member of St. Mary’s Men’s Ministry, Knights of Columbus, and was an active St. Mary’s parishioner.
