It was on this platform that Mike, his Texas cousin Kyle, and many other followers would spend countless happy hours together on Minecraft. It’s where Mikey’s generosity and creativity shown through as he built a world where they could communicate and enjoy a friendship filled with fun, laughter and connection.
He and his younger brother Joe loved going bowling, where he’d pass the time between turns by showing off his best dance moves. Mike bowled on the Friday Night Mixed League at Country Lanes in New Lenox and was loved by many of the other bowlers and staff. He created his own playlist for Friday nights, and on the rare occasion he didn’t make it to the lanes one night, the folks on the league would always make sure to listen to his playlist on the jukebox in his absence.
Mike and Joe were both huge racing and NASCAR fans. They frequently attended the races at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, where one of his best friends, Jeremiah, was a driver. Dale Earnhart, Jr. was his original favorite, then Jimmie Johnson and Alex Bowman who took over the #48 car. Mike enjoyed a wide variety of music, especially Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eminem, and Blake Shelton. He just loved being around people whether in person, online, or with his friends at the neighborhood Speedway where he and Joey would walk to almost daily.
