Mary Jean McLaughlin, 88, of Tinley Park, passed away Feb. 12, 2022. She is the beloved wife of 67 years to James F. McLaughlin, mother of Shirley (Michael) Lamping of New Lenox, James F. (Trisha) McLaughlin, Jr. of New Lenox and Brian McLaughlin of Tinley Park. “Yaya” to Maddie, Riley, Grace, Ben McLaughlin and Brendan, Aiden, Sean and Tristen Lamping. Sister of Shirley Oberg, Alex Campanio, Jr. and the late William Campanio. Leaves behind grand animals Woody, Ralph, Max, Rosco, Rudy and Shortie Bird. Mary was born in Chicago to Alex and Martha Campanio, Sr. Married in 1954, Mary and James moved to Tinley Park where they raised their family and were active parishioners at St. George Church. Mary taught CCD and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society for many years. A graduate of South Suburban College and St. Francis University in Joliet, BA of Nursing, Mary worked for AT&T as a supervisor prior to working as a Nurse at South Suburban Hosp. and Ingalls where she was an adolescent substance abuse nurse. She loved to garden, travel, dance, and animals. Visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort. on Thur., Feb. 17. from 3-8 pm and Fri. from 9:30 until the time of prayers at 10:30 a.m. to St. George Church, 6707 W. 175th St. Tinley Park for a 11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass. Committal Service following at Abraham Lincoln Nat’l Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Memorials may be directed to The Charity of your Choice.
