Marlene A. Buhle

We mourn the loss of Marlene Buhle, who passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on February 17, 2024 at her home in Mokena, Illinois. Born on September 27, 1935, in Chicago, she shared 68 joy-filled years with her beloved husband, William “Bill” Buhle, and was a source of unwavering love and comfort to her family.

Marlene loved caring for her family. Her delicious desserts, Thanksgiving stuffing, and other recipes formed the centerpiece of many gatherings and will continue to be lovingly recreated for years to come. She laughed generously at her sons’ antics and loved spending time with her granddaughters. She was a devoted Christian and loved the church communities she belonged to over the years. She gave generously to evangelical missions and was a steadfast example of faith. Her love, humor, and spirit will be well-remembered and deeply missed.

Preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Emily Morey, her siblings Ruth (Micky) Bonthron nee Morey, Marvin (Jeanine) Morey, and Harlen “Bud” (Stephanie) Morey, Marlene leaves behind her husband, her three sons, William “Bill” (Arlene), Kevin (Michelle), and Robert “Bob” (Heidi). She also leaves her brother Donald (Diane) Morey, her niece Penne (Paul) Scaletta nee Bonthron, her six granddaughters and great-granddaughter, along with many other cherished family members and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday February 21, 2024 from 4-7pm with a prayer service from 7-730pm at Kurtz Memorial Chapel in Frankfort, IL. Interment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood IL. The family extends their gratitude to Vitas Hospice for their compassionate care.
