Mr. Mark Joseph Derrico, age 71, of Toccoa, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.
Born May 15, 1952, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late George E. and Lucille D. (LaPlante) Derrico.
Mark was always there to help anyone in need. He worked hard all his life, starting as a paperboy in the southside Chicago neighborhood of Roseland. As a grade schooler and alter boy at St Louis of France in the 60s, he became and remained a devote Catholic all his life. He was a big sports fan and brought up his 2 sons to be excellent in baseball. He also sent his 2 daughters through 8+ years of dance class. Mark worked for "Ma Bell" Telephone Co in Chicago until moving with his family to North Carolina and then Georgia for highly technical careers in networking and testing technology.
Mark is survived by his children: Rachael O’Connor, Elizabeth (Timothy) Gade, Anthony & Daniel Derrico, Grandchildren: Michael O’Connor, Aria Dresden, Tori (Lamont) Tejan & Dominick O’Connor, Tiffany (Luis) Abarca, Brittany, Deborah, Alyssa & Suzanne Gade, Anthony, Hailey, Vincent, Alessia & Katelynn Derrico, Great Grandchildren: Elijah & Lucas Abarca and Nikoli Gade. He is also survived by his sisters Judy (Daniel) Steidl and Debbie (Daniel) Noel, siter-in-law Patricia (Frigge) Derrico as well as nieces and nephews. May Mark rest in heavenly peace with loved ones who proceeded him in death not only by his parents, but also by his former wife, Susan (Wagner) Derrico, his brothers, Phil and Dave Derrico and son-in-law, James T. O’Connor III.
Family will recieve friends Friday, February 16, 2024 at St. Jude Catholic Church at 10AM for Mass.
