Marilyn J. Kurtz (nee Badovinac)
Age 80, of New Lenox, IL passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox, IL, surrounded by her loving family. Marilyn was born in Berwyn, IL to the late Edward M. and Angeline B. (nee Mientus) Badovinac.
Wife of the late Karl J. Kurtz; loving mother of Thomas (Michele) Vana and the late Joey Kurtz; cherished grandmother of Liam Kurtz, Matthew (Morgan) Vana, Amy (Mitchell) Cunningham, and the late Jay Vana; proud great grandmother of Mason, Maverick, and Myles Vana, and Beau Cunningham; dear sister of Carole (late Nicholas) Fiorillo and the late Edward (late Nancy) Badovinac; loved aunt of Joanne (Steve) Longmire, Cheryl (fiancé Art Faje) Poper, the late John Poper, and Jimmy (Jan) Badovinac; great aunt of Danny Longmire, Michael Longmire, Nicky Poper, Jake (Madeline) Badovinac, and Jennie (Konstontin) Storkov; also survived by too many dear, devoted, loving, and caring friends to mention individually. Marilyn has truly been blessed with all their friendships.
Marilyn was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox, IL. She was a member of the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce and Lincoln-Way Area Business Women’s Organization (LWABWO). She was Citizen of the Year in 2009 and served as grand marshal of the Loyalty Day Parade in 2023. Marilyn was co-founder of Kurtz Ambulance and Kurtz Memorial Chapel. Marilyn is known for her kindness and compassion as well as for her generosity to so many people and businesses in New Lenox and beyond. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Silver Cross Hospital for the loving and compassionate care given to Marilyn.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Marilyn’s name to St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox, IL would be appreciated.
The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 3 pm – 8 pm. Funeral Services Saturday, November 8, 2025, with prayers at the funeral home at 9:15 am then to St. Jude Catholic Church 241 W Second Ave, New Lenox, IL for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery, Orland Park, IL.
