Margherita Maria Connelly (née Baskin), 74, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at her home in Matteson, IL. Born on December 12, 1951, in Rome, Italy, she lived a life abounding with generosity and love.
Maggie was the beloved mother of Paul Connelly and Sean (Tanessa) Connelly, loving Nonna to Katalaya Connelly, devoted daughter to the late Leroy and the late Jeanne Baskin, and cherished friend to many.
Maggie attended St. Irenaeus Catholic School in Park Forest, IL, Sacred Heart High School in Mokena, IL, and Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, IL. She worked at a number of jobs in her lifetime and particularly enjoyed roles caring for young children, including as a daycare and school aide. She always showed care and generosity towards those in need, especially with her volunteer service at PADS homeless shelter.
Maggie enjoyed playing tennis, working out, dancing and listening to music, and cheering on her favorite Chicago sports teams – White Sox, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks. She was an accomplished baton twirler and performed in a number of parades. Her greatest pride and joy was her family, especially her two sons and her cherished granddaughter.
Known for her generous and loving nature, Maggie touched the lives of many with her compassion, her cheerfulness, and her unwavering support. She made all of our lives brighter, and her memory will always be cherished and celebrated.
The Connelly family will receive family and friends for a Memorial Visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL. on Saturday July 11, 2026, from 10 A.M. until time of service at 12 P.M.
