Frankfort Way, Frankfort, Illinois. Funeral services will be held the following day at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude
Church, 24 W. 2nd Avenue, New Lenox, Illinois.
Gerry was a proud graduate of Joliet Township, would later work as an x-ray technician for a local
doctor, and then at Silver Cross Hospital before meeting the love of her life. In later years, she became a
bagger at Walt’s Food Store where at the end of every holiday season she would exhaustedly say, “I
never want to lift another turkey again.”
We will remember our dear mom, grandmother, and great grandmother for her steadfast faith, warm
smile, her infectious sense of humor, her fondness for a glass of wine and popcorn for dinner while
watching QVC, phone in hand to call in an order, her fierce love and devotion to every dog she ever
owned, the Cubs games on WGN that were the background noise of every summer, and the small
distillery she operated in her kitchen where she churned out hundreds of bottles of Irish cream.
While her death was expected we are saddened at the prospect of life without our North Star. We know
her story isn’t over as she has many adventures left to live on the other side where we are certain Dad
tackled everyone in his path to get to his bride, while the rest of those she loved and lost waited in a
long line to welcome her. Their joy in seeing her again is our sorrow but her work here is finished and
there was no one who did it better.
Rest now, Mom, in all the love you gave. We’ll move forward with your wisdom and empathy and see
you in everything you cherished.
