Margaret E Ditschler

February 22, 1941 — May 6, 2026

Frankfort

Margaret (Margie) Eugenia (Cwik) Ditschler, 85, of Frankfort, Illinois passed peacefully at home on May 6, 2026, with her loving son, Michael Ditschler, her caregiver for the past several years. She was ready to meet loved ones in Heaven and told the family she has date with Jesus. Margie was born February 22, 1941, in Camden, New Jersey to Leon and Beatrice Cwik. She attended Catholic School through eighth grade and graduated from Gloucester City High School, class of ’59. Margie was the captain of the cheerleading squad, served on the yearbook committee, and was president of the student council. Upon graduation, she started her career at the Camden National Bank in Camden, New Jersey and was promoted to loan officer.

The next chapter of Margie’s life brought her and her family to Chicago, Illinois and later they moved to the suburbs of Oak Lawn, Illinois. There she married Klaus Ditschler and was the proud and loving mother of Michael Ditschler and Karl Ditschler. As a mom, she attended their baseball games and school events. She loved being their room mother at school! As a family, they enjoyed vacations in Mexico, visiting relatives in Germany, and summers visiting family at the Jersey Shore where they went on the beach and boardwalk. Margie made the family laugh by putting on shows, buying matching pajamas for the girls’ weekend at the shore, etc. She loved to listen to Frank Sinatra music and was great at doing the Mummer’s Strut!

As owners of their German restaurant, the family had the special honor of being the parade marshals in the Octoberfest parade in the Village of Frankfort, Illinois. They were dressed in their authentic German attire and were on a horse drawn wagon. Along with being co-owner of the Zum Frankforter Hof, and Chef Klaus’ Bier Stube, Margie managed her own unique gift shop with various authentic items from Germany. For many years, Margie served as the Hostess at the Bier Stube, and she could be found in her dirndl with a big smile as she greeted and seated the customers.

One of the biggest highlights of her life was being a grandmother to Michelle Ditschler and Mikey Ditschler. She often took them to hotels for the weekend where they would swim, have pizza, and watch movies! They had lots of fun times together, including family holidays. Her great grandchildren, Michael and Luka brought her lots of joy, too!

Margie is survived by her two sons, Michael Ditschler and Karl Ditschler (Katie pre-deceased), Grandchildren, Michelle Ditschler and Mikey (Gordana) Ditschler, and Great- Grandchildren, Michael Ditschler and Luka Ditschler, her sisters: Patricia (Ronald) Zeck of NJ, Cecelia (Stephen) Marrone of FL, Barbara Lessig of NJ, several nieces and nephews: Debby Staycoff King of FL, Christopher Staycoff of IL, David (Sharon) Zeck, Ronnie (Elaine) Zeck, Linda Zeck, Dr. Sheirenne (Alex) Sherman all of NJ, and many great nieces and nephews, and many great- great nieces and nephews.

Margie was pre-deceased by her Father and Stepmother, Leon and Patricia Cwik, Mother and Stepfather, Beatrice and Frank Kawecki, and a loving sister, Beatrice (Beatty) Cwik Staycoff.
