Linda F Tynan

Loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister, Linda Fitzgerald Tynan, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, died suddenly on Monday, June 23, 2025, in the waters of South Haven, Michigan.

Born May 14, 1959, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, she grew up in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago. She was the beloved wife of David; loving mother of Matthew Sean and Daniel Fitzgerald; beloved sister of Laura (Robert) King; and daughter of Jean. Aunt and cousin of too many to count. Her father Joseph, her uncle Richard, and her brother Thomas preceded her in death.

Linda lived a selfless life, devoted to her family, the conservation of the environment, and to helping those in need through her years of work with therapeutic horse-riding charities. She embodied the free spirit and wild nature of wolves, the grace and beauty of horses, and she felt at home in the vast, open expanses of the American West.

She enjoyed the peace and solitude of Palisades Park in Michigan and found comfort and joy in a simple family-constructed A-frame cottage perched on a forested hillside. She loved the beach and would brave even the harshest of the elements to spend time there.

As a wife she was a best friend and a woman who offered limitless love. The best partner one could ever hope for. She was always there by her husband’s side attending business social events that she didn’t necessarily enjoy but wouldn’t miss. She was a truly beautiful woman who was as comfortable in a formal gown as she was in a men’s white t-shirt and jeans.

Linda was one of the brightest intellects around and would fiercely defend her position whether it was popular or not. A very private person that eschewed all social media yet was a totally open book for those that deserved it. She was loved by all who knew her and recognized how very unique she was in today’s world.

As a mother, she instilled a sense of right and wrong in her children. She valued honesty and forgiveness, and she was slow to judge but quick to forgive. She believed in charting one’s own course through life, taking the path less traveled, and in thinking for one’s self. She believed that life was meant to be an adventure, and she was so proud of both her sons for how they pursued their own adventurous lives.

She was a light for her family in the darkest of times, and she provided unerring guidance and support when we needed it most. She was loved by many, and her light will forever be missed.

Her memorial service will be private on Monday, June 30, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel in New Lenox, Illinois.
