Linda S. Irvine

Linda S. Irvine, age 77, a resident of New Lenox, formerly of Dolton, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. Loving mother of John D. Irvine (Lorrie), Karen (Joseph) O'Malley, Susan (Christopher) Dudik, and Stephanie (Jason) Ooykaas; cherished grandmother of Stephanie (Mark) Kozlowski, Shannon (late Rocco) DelRio, Christina (Ricky) Ephraim, Marti and Linda O’Malley, Mya, Violet, and Cecilia Dudik; and proud great grandmother of many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, John G. Irvine; parents, Edna (Thomas) Hawkey and Joseph Miller; sister Janet (Gary) Bush. An avid gardener, Linda earned a Master Gardener designation through the University of Illinois. She also enjoyed reading and was a talented seamstress, at one time owning her own sewing shop, Needlenook, in Dolton. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed her work as a 911 dispatcher for the Dolton Police Department, at the Chicago Tribune, and her time working at the New Lenox Public Library. Linda will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A visitation will be held at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451 on Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral service in the funeral home chapel on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery, New Lenox.
