Lewis Gene Wolfe
Age 85, of New Lenox, IL, formerly of Lansing, IL passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Lightways Hospice, Joliet, IL. Gene was born in Griffith, IN to the late Raymond and Ethel (nee Elliot) Wolfe.
Beloved husband of Judith (nee Hawley) Wolfe; loving father of Timothy (Colleen) Wolfe and Mark Wolfe; cherished grandfather of Ryan Wolfe and Maggie Wolfe; dear brother of the late Frank (late Delores) Wolfe, the late Helen (late James) Duke, and the late Shirley Lester; loved uncle, cousin, and friend of many.
Gene served in the U.S. Army 1958-1961. He was an Indiana State Trooper from 1964-1971. Gene is a retired Special Agent, Bureau of ATF 1971-1997. He then worked as a Fraud Investigator for Travelers Insurance 1997-2006, and then spent several years as a Private Investigator. Gene was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox, IL. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus - Fr. Dick Allen Council #10926, the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad, and former member of New Lenox CERT.
Gene enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 3 pm – 8 pm. Funeral services Wednesday, December 17, 2025, with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30 am then to St. Jude Catholic Church, 241 W. 2nd Ave, New Lenox, IL for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Glenwood, IL.
