Larry G. Wherley, age 74, a resident of Frankfort formerly of Lewistown and Canton IL, passed away on December 25, 2018. Loving husband of Donna Wherley (McDonough); beloved father of Larisa (Jim) Marshall, Lyndsay (Quentin) Kleber and CPT Nathaniel Wherley; cherished grandfather of Lyric, Owen, Lauren, Aria and Reznor; dearest son of the late Clarence and Wayne (Crable) Wherley; fond brother of the late Phillip Wherley, late Paul Wherley, late Lila Waters, late Ruth Wood, late Kathy Phillips, late Myron Wherley and late Ruby Boynton; dear uncle of several nieces. Larry was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the 8th Army in Korea. He retired from Navistar International Harvester in Melrose Park after 47 years. He had a passion for volunteering to help others, including delivering food for Meals on Wheels, and he was an avid car enthusiast, spending many weekends showcasing his beloved Ford Mustang. Memorial service will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with military honors on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Fisher House Foundation, www.fisherhouse.org, an organization helping Veteran’s Families, would be appreciated.
