Kurt Adam Grunert, a beloved business owner and the vibrant life of the party, passed away on May 23, 2025, in Joliet, Illinois, at the age of 54. Born on March 26, 1971, in Blue Island, Illinois, Kurt was known for his infectious enthusiasm for life and a passion for the great outdoors. He built a successful sandblasting and powder coatings company as well as Advanced Aquatics a succesful salt water fish store in Frankfort, where his entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly.
Kurt's life was rich with adventure, characterized by his love of motorcycle rides, dancing, camping, fishing, hiking, and hunting. His affinity for the outdoors brought joy not only to himself but also to those fortunate enough to share those experiences with him. He was a devoted father, lovingly cherishing the time spent with his children, Ava, Henry, and Olivia.
Kurt is survived by his mother, Diane (nee Kotara) ; his brothers, Joseph (Lynn), Gerald (Marita), and Daniel; and his sister, Lynn (Brad) Dohm; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends who were touched by his warmth and exuberance for life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Grunert.
A memorial gathering in honor of Kurt will be held on June 7, 2025, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Frankfort, Illinois, starting at 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM. A celebration of life will take place later that day at the Grunert Family home starting 1:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to share their memories and expressions of love for a remarkable man who left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
