Kathleen A. Doherty (nee Broda)
60, of Frankfort, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 surrounded by her family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. Kathy was born in Evergreen Park to the late Eugene P. and Patricia A. (nee Smith) Broda. Beloved wife of James M. Doherty; loving mother of Katherine R. Doherty, Elizabeth A, (Matthew) Kurnat, James P. "Jimmy" Doherty, Michael J. Doherty, and the late Matthew M. Doherty; cherished grandmother of Ryan and Daniel Kurnat; dear sister of Janice (James) Keane, Andrew (Karen Pierson) Broda, and Mary T. Helinski; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends also survive. Kathleen was a dedicated early childhood educator and a passionate, faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 2pm – 8pm. Funeral will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 with prayers at the funeral home at 9:30am and then to St. Jude Catholic Church, 241 Second Ave. New Lenox for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Interment Good Shepherd Cemetery, Orland Park.
