Joseph “Joey” Gomez
Age 57 of New Lenox passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Lightways Hospice, Joliet, IL surrounded by his loving family. Joey was born in Chicago and raised in Bridgeport.
Beloved husband of Katie (nee Seguin) Gomez; loving father of Jay Gomez, Niko Gomez, and Natalie Gomez; devoted son of Virginia (nee Herrera) Gomez and the late Jose Zermeno; dear brother of Henry Gomez, Harold Gomez, and Jimmy (Jackie) Gomez; loved son-in-law of Carol and the late Jim Seguin; cherished uncle, cousin, and friend of many.
Joey was a passionate and determined entrepreneur, working as a self-employed Patent Specialist and founding Lincoln-Way Construction, where his vision and work ethic left a lasting mark. He was a dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys and University of Michigan football, never missing a game and always ready with a spirited debate. Joey’s love for the game extended beyond the screen — he proudly played for the Force of Illinois Semi-Pro Football Team and was an active member of the Hamburg Athletic Association, where his camaraderie and competitive spirit shined.
But more than his career or hobbies, Joey will be remembered for the way he showed up for the people he loved. He had a magnetic personality, a quick wit, and an unforgettable laugh that filled every room. Whether it was happy-hours, concerts, spontaneous trips, or just sitting around the fire, Joey made even the ordinary moments feel special. He was the kind of friend who would drop everything to help, the kind of son, brother, uncle, and partner who made life feel bigger and brighter just by being there.
His strength, generosity, and deep love for his family and friends will continue to inspire those who knew him. Joey leaves behind a legacy of resilience, heart, and unwavering loyalty. He will be missed more than words can say, and remembered always with love.
