John J. Surma, age 64, passed away on Thursday June 25, 2026, at Silver Cross Hospital. Born in Chicago, IL. to the late Joseph and Dolores Surma. John moved to New Lenox with his parents while he was in high school. John loved to be around family, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren. John's passion was being out in the yard working, especially in his garden. John is survived by the love of his life for 36 years Dawn Studer, a daughter, devoted stepchildren: William Studer, Cruz Studer, Andy (Yesi) Studer, Laura Studer- Shanahan, son-in-law David Shanahan, grandchildren: Alex, Zoe, Kaylene, Elizabeth, Mila, David, siblings: Gerry (Marilu) Surma, Cathy (Joseph CPD) Tyrcha, Sheryl (Charles) Cronin, Louise (Tom) Tabisz, many nieces and nephews, his grand dog Willow, three cats Sammie, Jr., Lady.
