Jean Marie Brazill (née Metz), age 97, passed away peacefully after a very brief illness on March 9, 2026, in Olympia Fields, Illinois. Born on November 26, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, Jean lived a long and fulfilling life surrounded by the love of her family.
Jean was the beloved wife of the late Paul Joseph Brazill and the cherished daughter of William and Nell Metz, who predeceased her. Jean and Paul were united in marriage on October 4, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri. They shared 63 years of marriage together. Jean is survived by her two devoted daughters, Paula Brazill Wallrich (spouse Michael Wallrich) and Sharon Brazill Spiese (spouse Jack Spiese). Jean was also a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: Nicholas Spiese, Matthew Wallrich (spouse Kathy Kwasniewski Wallrich), Wyatt Spiese (spouse Ellen Valenta Spiese), William Wallrich (spouse Kirsten Bergstrom Wallrich), and April Spiese. Her legacy continues through her four great-grandchildren: Stella Spiese, Jesse Spiese, Gabriel Wallrich, and Silas Wallrich. Jean is also survived by her sister, Carole Metz Fleschert.
Jean had a passion for games of all kinds and was known for her remarkable skill and competitive spirit—she won most of the games she played. Beyond her love for games, Jean found immense joy in spending time with her family. She treasured every moment shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
Jean's burial, which included Paul's ashes in her casket, was held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. She was laid to rest next to her beloved mother and father.
May Jean’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity in Jean’s name. May she rest in peace.
