James P. Spikings

“Spike”

Age 78, of New Lenox, IL passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Spike was born in Chicago, IL to the late Richard and Helen (nee Lyons) Spikings.

Beloved husband of the late Barbara L. Spikings (nee Carsey); loving father of Scott (Tina) Spikings and Susan (Greg) Bernard; cherished grandfather of Morgan and Megan Spikings, Laney and Aidan Bernard, Niko, Noah, and Sophia Bilgi; dear brother of the late Leeann Luzzi; loved uncle, cousin, and friend of many.

Spike was a retired pipefitter and a member of Local 597. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, New Lenox, IL where he was a Eucharistic Minister. After working many long hours pipefitting, he enjoyed his free time duck hunting, bass fishing, playing golf and of course planning his next trip to Las Vegas. I know some of the restaurants around town will surely miss him coming in and keeping their businesses afloat. Hope heaven welcomes you with a nice big “blue burger” from Hamburgerseria and Diet Coke no ice.

The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 3 pm – 8 pm. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Jude Catholic Church 241 W. 2nd Ave, New Lenox, IL.
