James M. Bartels

James M. Bartels, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.

James is survived by his beloved wife Beverly (nee Grigsby) Bartels; daughters, Vanessa (Craig) Pearson, Holly (Dean) Battaglia, and Charlene (Chris Penland) Bartels; and his grandchildren, Eileen Johnson, Audrey Pearson, Nicholas Battaglia, Anthony Battaglia, Jake Doman, and Heather Doman; and great- grandson Lars Johnson.

He is preceded in death by his parents George and Teresa (nee Lentsch); and sisters Dolores Bartels and Barbara Marohn.

James worked as an electrical mechanic prior to retirement. He also enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, and being on the water. James also enjoyed traveling the world with his beloved wife Beverly.

Services for James will begin on Wednesday, June 8th, 2022 with a visitation from 5pm until 9pm at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd. in New Lenox. A brief visitation will take place at the funeral home the following day, Thursday, June 9th, 2022 from 10am until the time of service at 10:30am. James will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
