Age 79, of Frankfort, IL. passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday June 10th, 2025.
Jim had a distinguished career in the financial marketplace. Jim had a passion for foreign and domestic capital markets that made him excel in trading and account management for his clients. Jim spent decades establishing long standing relationships in the investment world as a senior trader and portfolio manager. Even in retirement, Jim enjoyed studying, debating, and investing, often providing advice and guidance to family and friends.
Jim was passionate about many things, but none more than his family. Just three weeks before his passing, Jim travelled to San Antonio to his granddaughter’s wedding and was able to dance with all three of his granddaughters. Jim had a special bond with young children and babies and his voice had the sweetest tone when speaking and playing with them. In his senior years he enjoyed sitting for his niece’s children.
Jim also loved music, and he would sing in the car, the shower, or any venue available to him! Jim’s sister in laws especially loved, and will dearly miss, his annual Elvis rendition of happy birthday.
Jim loved to play golf. He developed many friendships at the golf course. Jim even enjoyed swinging his clubs amidst his battle with cancer, playing the occasional round.
Jim fought his courageous battle with cancer for nearly 3 years with his wife Irene at his side. His time fighting cancer far exceeded the initial expectations and he tolerated his treatments well. The team of doctors and nurses provided him with the best of care.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Irene Howland, children: Rick & Lisa Howland, Randy & Vanessa Howland; grandchildren: Kennedy Howland, Kelcie Howland, Khloe & Cole Glasser, Kristopher Howland; brother Patrick Howland; loving sisters and brothers in law; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
