James E. Drymiller

James E. Drymiller, age 70 of New Lenox, Illinois passed away on January 25, 2022. Jim was the beloved husband to Marifran A. Drymiller (nee Alessi), and is also survived by his loving family: sons: Mike (Jenn) Drymiller and Joe (Deanna) Drymiller, grandsons: James W. and Dexter Drymiller, siblings: David (Pam) Drymiller, Eileen (late Bill) Williams, Paul (Bev) Drymiller, Mary (Dan) Hull, Carole (Kevin) Casey. Jim was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, godfather, and friend to many. He will also be missed by his faithful canine companion, Hattie, who he enjoyed taking on frequent walks and sneaking an extra treat or two.

Jim was born October 7, 1951 to the late Roy Drymiller and Isabel (nee Erxleben) in Chicago, where he was raised. Jim worked at Dominick's Grocery in many capacities, where he met Marifran, and they married a year later on September 24, 1977. They spent 44 years together side-by-side and raised their family in the south suburbs. Jim was an avid sports fan cheering on all Chicago teams and loved playing basketball with his sons. He volunteered at St. Julie’s Catholic Church by teaching religious education and as a Eucharistic Minister. Jim retired in 2013 after 46 years of dedication with Dominick’s. Before his passing, Jim would encourage anyone he encountered to smile and to always be strong.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 1, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451. On Wednesday, February 2, prayers at 9:15 a.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel to St. Jude’s Church in New Lenox for a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass. Private inurnment at Good Shepherd Cemetery Columbarium following cremation. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org in Jim’s name to help find a cure.
