James Weldon Allen, Jr., age 65, of Chesterton, Indiana, entered into the presence of his Savior on Friday, February 13th, following a brief illness, with his loving wife, Minnie Allen (née Taylor), faithfully by his side.
Born on June 15, 1960, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, Jim was the fourth child joyfully welcomed into the Allen family by his parents, Jerry and James W. Allen, Sr. From an early age, Jim possessed a vibrant spirit and a gift for connecting with others. He truly lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger - only friends he hadn’t yet made.
Jimmy shared a particularly special bond with his mother, Jerry, who preceded him in death on July 20, 2025. Their daily conversations and heartfelt prayers were a treasured part of his life, strengthening both their spirits and reflecting the deep faith they shared.
A natural storyteller with undeniable charm, Jim could light up any room. Whether at a holiday celebration, a family gathering, or an impromptu get-together, he brought laughter, energy, and unforgettable stories. His salesmanship and negotiating skills were legendary, but it was his warmth, humor, and love for people that truly defined him. Simply put…Jim was the life of the party.
Jim’s greatest joy was his family. He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Minnie; her sons, Dominic and Demetri (Akea) Blanco; her daughter, MaDestini Taylor and her grandchildren Leylon, Londyn and Nevaeh. He is also survived by his step-granddaughter Marciel McKinney. Jim leaves behind his beloved cats, Sparkles and Coffee, who brought him daily companionship and comfort.
He is survived by his siblings: Bob Allen (Shirley), Sue Rainey (Haley), Pam Schilling (Dale), Linda Graman, and Laura Rudzinski (Rich). He was a proud and fun-loving uncle to his 19 cherished nieces and nephews: Sarah Regan (Tim), Emily Kusz (Jeff), Cate Sullivan (Mario), Wyatt Schilling (Krystal), Mallory Neu (Justin), Brian Allen (Yukari), Shaun Allen, Derrick Allen (Jessica), Jessica Fogel (Rich), Jason Allen (Rachel), Martin Rhyne, Bethany Graman (Gary Brecker), Breanna Kopczick (Mark), Allen Graman, Abigale Graman, Kenny Graman, Megan Rudzinski, Alex Rudzinski, and Jenna Rudzinski, along with many beloved great and great-great nieces and nephews who brought him immense pride and joy.
He was welcomed into heaven by his first wife, Cynthia Allen, his stepdaughter Jalene McKinney, his second wife Toni Allen along with his father, James W. Allen, Sr.; his mother, Jerry G. Allen; his brother-in-law, Mike Graman; and his nephews Gregory Schilling, Cameron Allen, and Jacob Graman.
Jim’s charismatic spirit, deep love for his wife and family, and unwavering faith in God shaped a life well lived. His love for Jesus Christ carried him through every season of life, and we take comfort in knowing he is now rejoicing in eternal peace.
In celebrating Jim’s life, may we honor him by cherishing our families, laughing loudly, telling great stories, praying faithfully, and loving generously - just as he did.
