Jacqueline R. “Jackie” Charland of Frankfort, IL, formerly of Park Forest, IL, passed away at Smith Crossing Senior Living Community, Orland Park, IL on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
Jacqueline Charland was born June 15, 1933, in Dixon, IL, the daughter of Lauretta M. “Bo”and Paul J. Fry. She married Bernard J. Charland on June 12, 1954 in Dixon, IL and they raised three daughters. Jacqueline was a homemaker and had worked for the Park Forest Health Department as a nurse’s aide for several years. She was a former member of St. Irenaus Catholic Church, Park Forest, IL and also a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Frankfort, IL. Jackie was a world wide traveler, enjoyed sewing and baking, studying history and was extremely patriotic, always flying the largest flag on the block! She loved all things Irish, which of course meant she was good at writing, storytelling, singing (even if she didn’t know the words), hosting get togethers, dancing a jig, and always up to some kind of shenanigans and malarkey! Jackie was the best wife, most loving mother, greatest doting Mimi, and warmest caring friend ever! Her eternal light of love, kindness and generosity will be a beacon for the rest of us.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Anne (Richard) Thomas of Alpharetta, GA, Mary (Jack) Henry of Grant Park, IL, and Sarah (Michael) Kaczmarski of Frankfort, IL, a brother, Willis F. “Bill” (Bonnie) Fry of Naperville, IL, 8 grandchildren, Christopher, Kaitlin, Alex, Tori, Corey, Steve, Jennifer, John, 1 great grandchild, Charlotte Mae, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bernard J. Charland, brother Paul Fry of Lake Tahoe, CA and infant daughter, Michelle Ann.
Visitation will be Tuesday morning, January 30th from 10:00 - 12:00, with a prayer service at 12:00 at Kurtz Funeral Home, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL 60423, followed by 12:30 Mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 7659 W. Sauk Trail, Frankfort, IL 60423, to then be followed by a “Celebration of Life” reception at Tom Kelly’s, 495 Degroate Rd., New Lenox, IL 60451.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for masses, the Alzheimer’s Foundation, or the charity of your choice. Jackie had two last requests, to spread kindness wherever you go and spend some time to take someone you love out to lunch! ☘️☘️☘️
