George R. Schletz

George R. Schletz, age 86, passed away peacefully at Lightways Hospice Home, on Sunday, October 15, 2023 surrounded by family.

George is survived by his children, Dr. Julianne (Dr. Donald) Bergh, Lawrence (Margie) Schletz and Thomas (Lisa) Schletz; grandchildren, Matthew Bergh, Alex Bergh, Christian Schletz, Samantha Schletz, and Anthony Schletz; and his partner Margaret Healey.

He is preceded in death by his beloved spouse Marianne (nee Relinski) Schletz; brother Marvin Schletz;

George will be remembered for his love for coaching, especially football and baseball. He also loved watching his grandchildren play sports, both swimming and football. He was proudly a self-employed CPA for 50 years. He was a family-oriented man and was the caregiver for his wife Marianne for twenty-seven years, even presented an award for caregiver of the year from Vitas Hospice. He was a kind man and will be missed by all that knew him.

Services for George will begin on Sunday, October 22, 2023 with a visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, in Frankfort, from 4-8pm. Services will continue the following day with a brief visitation at the funeral home on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 9am-10:30am, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Bural at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 19515 115th Street, in Mokena at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society in George’s name would be appreciated.
