George Perry, a lifelong resident of Chicago’s south suburbs and an advertising and marketing professional for more than 60 years, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 16. After honorably serving in the United State Coast Guard, he began his professional career as an advertising representative for the Harvey Tribune. After that newspaper was merged with Star Publications, Mr. Perry would serve as that publishing group’s retail advertising manager, advertising director and vice president of advertising and marketing. In 1991, he founded George Perry & Associates, a full-service marketing and public relations firms, which specializes in serving the needs of businesses and institutions in Chicago’s south and southwest suburbs.
Mr. Perry was a member of the Franciscan Health Foundation Olympia Fields board of directors. He also served on the Prairie State College Foundation board of directors and the Greater Southland Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Mr. Perry also served as a consultant to the Lincoln-Way High School Foundation for Educational Excellence board of directors. He was a past president of Lincolnshire Country Club, and as a member of Olympia Fields Country Club, Mr. Perry served on committees for the 1997 U.S. Senior Open and the 2003 U.S. Open Championship.
Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 60 years, Harlene. He is survived by his son, Michael Perry, DDS, and his wife, Elise, three grandchildren, Daniel, Brian (Abby)and Michelle(Ian) and one great grandchild, Eloise. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in George's name to the Alzheimer's foundation link below. Family and friends will meet Wednesday March 27, 2024 12:00pm at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Elwood, IL , for Interment will full military honors.
