Born December 24, 1933 in Phoenix, IL. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Manteno, IL. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 1/2 years Jean (Hummel) Stojak, his children Joan (Thomas) Armon, Frank (Doreen) Stojak, Judy (Thomas) Filippo, Ron Stojak, Joyce (Stephen) McGarry, and Janet (Daniel) Hogan. He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren Mark (Kaitlin) Armon, Brittany (Ryan) Royer, Lindsay (Andrew) Ramus, Ashley (Nick) Adducci, Seth Stojak, Katie Stojak, Dominic Filippo, Alexis Filippo, Kristina (Rick) Skinner, Ryan (Amber) Stojak, Kariann (Luke) Lessig, Jared Scott, Casey (Chris) Giglio, Kelly (Jack) Andrews, Connor McGarry, Kailey McGarry, Amylee (John) Simonovich, Cody Hogan, his 31 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Frank raised his family on the South Side of Chicago. He faithfully attended Sunday Mass at St. John the Baptist in Harvey, IL, and was a man of great faith who was actively involved in the church. A loyal Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, he could always be found either watching the game on TV or listening on the radio, no matter the location or the static.
His pride and joy were his family; being together was everything to him, and he never missed a moment, always with a camcorder in hand. He boasted about his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild every chance he got.
His favorite places to be were St. Petersburg, FL, where he and Jean built a community of friends, regularly found on the shuffleboard courts or polka dancing, and Gobles, MI, where years of lake memories were created, many lasting late into the night around the fire. No matter where he was, Frank made new friends and was always aiming to beat friends and family at cards.
Frank was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956 and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. He took great pride in his time in the Army and cherished the many relationships he formed during those years, the kindness of strangers, the opening of homes, and the many conversations. In 2022, he was invited on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., to pay tribute to his service, and had the honor of taking the trip with his granddaughter Alexis, a Captain in the Army National Guard. His grandsons also followed in his footsteps: Dominic, a Medical Sergeant in the Army National Guard and Connor, a Captain in the Army Reserves.
Frank’s legacy will always be carried on in his family, in the love they freely give, in the memories created at Duck Lake and St. Petersburg, and in their shared passion for Chicago sports. He will be greatly missed; his memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
