Ernest W. Pentek, Sr.

ERNEST W Pentek, Sr. of Frankfort, IL formerly of Chicago, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 after a short hard fought battle with cancer. Ernie was surrounded by his loving wife Anna (nee Takacs) of 64 years; his children Ernest, Jr., (Retired Engineer CFD) Wife Susan; Daughter Katherine Anne; Daughter Janet Lee; Robert, (Retired FF CFD); John, (Battalion Chief CFD) Wife Brenda. Survived by his grandchildren Ernest III, Christina, Sean, Zachary, Nicholas, Jeremiah, Becky, Emily, Luke, Sam, Daniel John, Jennifer, Julia, Danny, Bobby Ray, Ashley, Josh, Emmalee, Jack, Jillian, Jade, Johnny and Tommy and 20 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his father Stephen Pentek, his mother Julia (nee Koblos); brother Steve R Pentek (Retired CFD); Uncle of many nieces and nephews; a good friend to all.
Ernie was a Post World War II Army Veteran serving with the 14th Armored Regiment, retired Asst. Deputy Fire Commissioner of the CFD giving the City 38 1/2 years of Service. 35 year member of the Chicago Fireman's Post #667. Retired member of the Ornamental Iron Workers Local #63. He was also an extremely talented handball player for the Fire Department winning a bevy of tournaments across the country with his many partner's one being Commissioner Robert J. Quinn!
He loved to play golf where ever he went. He got a hole in one @ Green Gardens CC and Glen Eagles CC. He also played a mean game of pinochle with his wife and children and his late brother n law John Takacs. The world lost a great man. Ernie will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
